Website Traffic Checker – Not Rocket Science

Why pay for a website traffic checker when there is a free one built into your hosting account. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to have a detailed look at your own traffic statistics. It is just a matter of logging into your hosting account cPanel.

If you are not sure how to find your cPanel (control panel), then just ask your hosting provider to give you the details on how to access it or you could do a quick search on any search engine to get a detailed answer. There really is a lot of information out there, you will also find many sites that provide some video instructions on how to do it.

Normally, you would just type in your own domain name (as if you were going to have a look at your web site’s front page, then just type a forward slash and write ‘cPanel’ (without the quotes of course) . You will see a login box appear, just enter your user name and password and you will get into your cPanel straight away.

Now you are looking at the first page of your cPanel, look for a folder called ‘Awstats’, it is normally a sub-folder that can be found in the ‘Logs’  folder. Once you find it, just left click on it to open it. You will now be looking at a list of your domains ( might be just one). Click on the ‘View’ icon.

Your stats should now be displayed, take some time to have a brows around all of the information, there really is a gold mine of statistics to be found and the good thing is that you didn’t pay anyone to find it or buy any software to obtain it. Another good thing is that you can use your website traffic checker any time you want to from any pc that is connected to the internet.
