The Cost of SEO
This is a pretty hot topic at the moment as you can pay anything from £50 a month to £10,000 a month for SEO but what’s the difference?
Well this is a hot topic because there are a lot of companies out there charging people £50 a month and promising the world, this is quite clearly impossible. Please remember for a real SEO company this would not be enough to do key word analysis let alone do any work.
When it comes to SEO you should always know what you are getting for your money so when you are told we can get you to the top of Hot tubs, Nike trainers, jeans, car insure or houses for rent for £150 a month they are lying, I can tell you this because myself and the SEO team I work with have achieved some of these terms and I can tell you there is a lot of moneys worth of work involved.
What you need to know
This is where it is important that you know the aims and targets before you sign anything. For example if they say they are going to achieve a very tough generic key word they need to say on a month by month basis what they are going to do.
On page: optimise title tags, optimise description tags, optimise key word tags and check key word density on the first and second level pages.
Off page: begin link building buy doing 20 director subs and 10 article subs. (when any on talks about director subs please always ask were they will be submitting to as a lot of directors are a waste of time, a good way of checking if the directory is any good is check the page rank example: dmoz pr 8 very good directory).
On page: optimise the h1 tags make sure they contain your key word were possible, externalise java script on home page.
Off page: 10 article subs, set up company blog.
So then you can look at this information and see how long this will take to make a fair assessment of the cost involved.
What I have detailed above is very necessary for any one that has a large site or a lot of keywords because these will always be the more expensive SEO campaigns, were as if you are going for a smaller SEO campaign I would say all you need to make sure is that they keep a record of all the work that has been done that you have full access to.
But the true value of SEO has to be pacific to every campaign, I hate the one size fits all approach that I like to call “SEO in box” this is very common among SEO companies now, but this can’t possibly work because not every keyword takes the same amount of time to achieve so how can you charge a barber in surrey the same for his 5 keyword as you would charge a large car insurance firm for there 5 key words.
This is quite simply rubbish.
To summarise I would say one of the important thing is shop around for your SEO agency make sure you have clear targets and you know how these targets are going to be achieve before you sign anything, what I do with a lot of clients is do a taster SEO campaign so that people can test our skills before they commit themselves to us.
I hope this helps in your search for a search engine optimiastion agencies.
