Getting Google to Notice You

So how do companies do it? How do they get their websites ranked on the first page of Google, Bing, Yahoo…?
First, you need to submit your url to the search engines so they know you are out there. Remember, Google is an information provider. They search through thousands upon millions of websites daily to bring you the best results. So if you don’t tell the search engines you are out there, they won’t find you.
So how do you do this?
There are a few different websites you can try or you can go directly to Google, Bing, and Yahoo and submit your URL.
Next, we need to learn keywords and how to sprinkle them throughout your website. Bots crawl your website and pick up on keywords replicated over and over again on your site. This is how the search engines determine what your website is about. So, if you say your website it about cooking, but all your keywords reflect scrapbooking information the search engines will be confused and not know how to list your website.
Keywords are crucial to have throughout the 1st paragraph on your home page. You want 2-3% of your keywords on your home page, but don’t over do it. To many of the same words is just as bad as not any at all.
Add keywords to each webpage, add metatags, change picture descriptions, etc%u2026.
Pick 5 keywords you want to rank for on the search engines and focus your attention on those 5 keywords. Need help picking keywords, you can use Google Keywords. It helps show you how many hits a month certain words have which tells you how many people are searching Google for that word and would potentially hit your website.
Yahoo Site Analyzer is another great tool I use often. It tells me the keywords it has picked up off my site, has my RSS feed on there, and tells me how many pages I have indexed.

This is a quick an easy way to generate your own traffic to your site. You can post relevant articles that clients might find interesting and you can link them back to your own websites.
Start social networking!
Sign up for Facebook, Twitter, and all the social network sites. They give offer free advertising!
Start researching competitors!
Look at competitor sites and see where they are scoring most of their traffic from. Get ahead of competition by knowing your competitors sources.
